I wish to you and your families all the best, stay healthy
as much as you can, stay strong as much as you can and I really hope for all of
you to become a better person this year.
This is my personal goal for every year for some time now,
to excel and to become a better person – a better human being (although I would
characterized myself as a zombie…) in every possible aspect. Καλύτερος άνθρωπος λέμε.
Since this is the 1st post for 2016, we will
mention all honorable things we liked/loved/adored at 2015. Things which stuck
in our minds and probably will follow us for the rest of our pitiful life.We will not mention blockbusters and movies which are well
known to everyone out there. We will spot some real gems, movies you should
check out now that you are relaxing at your couch, enjoying your vacation.
The first movie was released at USA, December 11th,2014.
Of course, we saw this film at 2015, and we are still hooked with it for its
perfect plot and ending song. Son of a Gun and closing the last 5 minutes of this “law of silence” with Sol Seppy, touched perfection. Sophie Michalitsianos (a non-migrating Norwegian tuna fish…) haunted us
with her “earth and space” music and we can all start hitting “The Bells of 1 2”.
Our deeply respects once again to EwanMcGregor
as a society scam and grand theft auto mastermind who did not think that a
Bonobo can outtake a Chimpanzee. Also, this film is the milestone of a limit-up
in Hollywood stocks for a young flicka
from Gothenburg. Then, Ex Machina just blew our minds. Ladies and gentlemen, we
present you AliciaAmandaVikander.
The second movie you should all see is Sicario – 2015. A war about drugs and
cartel is a tough shit, but FBI agent, miss sunshine KateMacer (EmilyBlunt)
will try to adopt in cutting throat circumstances. Literally. A team with leader called MattGraver (JoshBrolin) and pistol-Pete Alejandro (BenicioDelToro) will do their best to destroy theNo1 Mexican cartel. But
things are getting little complicated for miss Kate since at some point she
discovers that if you mix black & white you don’t get grey, but you get
a darker black with a bullet writing your name. A great dinner scene and some
complaints from Juarez’s Mayor that things are not like Hollywood presents them
in Mexico are some issues to consider. DenisVilleneuve
made us proud again with his sheep and wolve theory ("You will not survive here. You are not a wolf. And this is the land of wolves now."). Well done Denis, well done. Of
course our 2010 is still marked from Incendies.
Last and our top of the top since we have our weaknesses
too, you should listen and remember our dearest “friend” Amy Jade Winehouse, who unfortunately left us for good at 23rd
of July, 2011. The latest documentary about her life is called Amy – 2015, and you will find out many things about her daily (normal) life and
then maybe you will be able to appreciate more her music. Some of her personal
or her closest friends’ archival footage can be seen and we are filled with
regret that every time a genius lands foot on earth his/her fate is sealed with
sadness, pain and self destruction. You can see footage from Amy before she became THE Amy Winehouse.
You can listen to her singing to small jazz places before she became famous
and destroyed by media and paparazzi. Her weaknesses for alcohol and
drugs deprived her a long life and heaven to our ears. Falling in love with the
wrong person, having your family not understanding your condition leaded to an
early end. It would be better I think not to have an album like “Back to Black”,
but still having Amy around, because at the end of the day we will never find out her real limits in music. Most (if not all…) of her songs are
written by her, driven from situations and conditions she was feeling in her daily
life. Bottom line: Nothing can prepare you for that level of success. “We only
said goodbye with words…”.
Take care, relax, enjoy and spend some time with people you
love.
For the rest of us, we still have to follow miss Ives and we
should “walk alone…”, and try to improve ourselves continuously.
Until next time.
